Catherine Maruk, a lyrical-drama soprano, was born in St. Petersburg. She graduated from Music School named after Rimsky-Korsakov under St. Petersburg State Conservatoire, as a pianist and organist (Faculty of Piano). In 1999 - 2004 she was a student of the State Conservatoire in St.Petersburg, Prof. I.P. Bogacheva class.

Since 2005 she is a student of the State Conservatoire of Alessandria in Italy, Prof.Iona Iori, Prof. Adelina Scarabelli since 2006; Prof.J.-P.Mastromei in Milan. A student of the Academy in Torino, Prof. Franca Mattiucci. Her pedagogues, have been performing for over 40 years at best opera theatres of the world, like "La Scala", "Grand Opera", "Metropolitan". In 2003, during her solo concert tour round Europe/ Ekaterina was highly appraised by the French press.

The newspaper "Midi Libre" wrote on 19.07.2003" "The vocal technique of the soloist is phenomenal. The singer demonstrated a brilliant performance of A. Alyabiev's romance "The nightingale". The huge audience appraised the mastery of the singer - the owner of a gold crystal voice - with applause". "La Depeche" as of 15.07.2003 noted the singer's tremendously extensive compass - from crystal to deep-dark, the subtle nuancing in performing S. Rakhmaninov's romances and the dazzling trills in performing A. Alyabiev's "The nightingale". In 2000 Ekaterina won the prize of the International Competition named after Hariklia Darkle in Romania. She took part in various international competitions and festivals held in France, Italy and Russia.

In 2003 she was awarded with a Diploma and a special prize of the All-Russia n Competition of young opera singers in St. Petersburg for the best performance of the airs by G. Verdi In 2003-2004 Ekaterina sang "Rekviem" by Verdi, Simphony Nr.14 by D.Shostakovich, "Tosca" by Puccini and Tatiana from "Evgeny Onegin" by Chaikovsky for the St.Petersburg Opera.

In 2004 took part in XII Stars of the White Nights Festival von Mariinsky Theatre (Valery Gergiev). In 2005 took part in 41-th International Festival of modern music in St.Petersburg and travelled to Italy to perform and study. In 2006 took part in 42 Festival of modern music in St.Petersburg For 2006 she has invitatiofis from Opera Academy in Milan for participation in "Tosca" (Tosca) in Theater of the Memory (Milan) 09.06.2006 and for concerts in Parma and Busseto (25.03.,13.05.,27.05.2006 - Hall of Maria Callas, Hall of Barezzi).

The 21 -23.October 2006 in the Theater delle Erbe (Milan) - "Un ballo in maschera" by G.Verdi, Amelia. For 2006 (November - December) she has invitations from Opera Company Italian for participation in "La Boheme" of Puccini, Mimi in Theaters of Germany, Luxembourg, Great Britain, Netherlands and Denmark.
